Showing Support For Dunnes Workers Today

I was delighted to show my support for Dunnes workers on the picket line in Dundalk today who are on strike calling for fair wages, regular, fixed hours work and union representation. 

It is unacceptable that in this day and age workers should face such job insecurity and uncertainty in their lives. It is near impossible for anyone to have a decent standard of living when they have such little certainty over their hours work. 

The Dunnes Stores management must provide their hardworking staff with regular, fixed hours, a fair wage and union representation. Not only is it the morally right thing to do but it also makes business sense too because a fairly treated workforce is a more productive and committed workforce.

I call on the Dunnes Stores management to respect the legitimate concerns of their staff and engage in negotiations to improve pay and conditions for its workers.
