I Welcome The Nomination Of Mairia Cahill For Seanad Seat

I am delighted that Mairia Cahill will seek to contest the Seanad bye election seat left vacant by the retirement of Senator Jimmy Harte who suffered a serious injury two years ago. 

Mairia is one of the most courageous people I have ever met. I feel she would be a tremendous asset to the Seanad. 

Her dignity and unwavering determination to speak out about her abuse is a testament to her strong character and I have no doubt that she will continue to highlight injustices and women's issues in the Seanad.

I will certainly be supporting her bid for the Seanad.
