Eight major school investment projects in
Louth have been given the green light by the new School Buildings Plan announced
today.
Welcoming the news, Senator Mary Moran said
" I am delighted that Louth has featured so strongly in the much anticipated
School Caoital Plan today, and that a number of critical projects have been
prioritised.
I have been working tirelessly on behalf of
schools in the community, highlighting the need for greater investment and
better education infrastructure. Therefore I am glad to see good news emerge for
the locality today because I know it will vastly benefit pupils and teachers
alike.
Major building projects will commence in
Five schools in 2016 including Dun Dealgan NS Jocelyn St Dundalk, Ballapousta
NS Ardee, Termonfeckin NS, SN Ard Mhuire Marymount, and Ardee Community School
, while work on Bush Post Primary school will commence in 2018 and
St Ita's special school Drogheda and St Mary's special school in Drumcar in
2019
Not only will the improvements to school
buildings directly benefit our children by ensuring they are educated in modern
surroundings, but it will also generate work for the local construction
industry.
