As Seanad Spokesperson for Education, I would like to offer my best wishes to students and parents in Co. Louth as they go back to school this week.

“I would like to wish pupils, parents and teachers in schools across Louth the very best for the year ahead. This time of year can throw up mixed emotions, as many parents see their little ones off to his or her first day of school.

“It can also be an expensive time for parents, as they have back to school costs for uniforms, books, and other expenses. Parents should be aware that the Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance for eligible families is open for application until 30^th September. Application forms are available on the Department website, www.welfare.ie.”
