Annual Service of Remembrance
The Maternity and Childhood Bereavement Group of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda is holding its Annual Ecumenical Service of Remembrance for the families of babies and children who died during pregnancy, at or around the time of birth or in childhood. The service is taking place on Sunday, 5th October, 2014 at 3.30 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Hardman's Gardens, Drogheda, Co. Louth. Fiona Mulligan, Bereavement Support Midwife said "The death of a baby before or after birth is a devastating experience for parents and family members. This multi-denominational service provides a place for parents and families to gather together to remember their baby or child and to spend some reflective time with others who share in their journey. During the service of readings, music and prayer, each family will have an opportunity to light a candle in memory of their baby and write an inscription in our Book of Reflection. We warmly welcome all parents and families who have experienced a loss no matter where or when their loss occurred to take part in this remembrance event."
Light refreshments will be served after the service and there will be an opportunity to meet hospital staff and other parents.
