2nd Annual DPMH mental health week a great success

The Dundalk Positive Mental Health Committee would like to thank everyone who attended the events over the course of last week's 2nd Annual Dundalk Mental Health Week.
'The 2nd Annual Dundalk Mental Health Week was a great success with strong interest shown by many in our local community in discussing mental health.  We were delighted to welcome Conor Cusack to Dundalk on Tuesday to launch the art exhibition and speak at our public conference where he gave a moving and insightful account of his own journey.  Dr. Lisa Butterly also contributed to the public conference on Tuesday with her excellent presentation on her own personal mental health journey.  We would like to thank these speakers for their contributions and for assisting in the overall mental health conversation in our community and thanks to Dundalk Outcomers for hosting Tuesday's events.
'An information stand was placed in the Marshes Shopping centre and we were delighted with number of people who availed of the provided information and green ribbons to show their support. We would like to thank the Marshes Shopping Centre for providing us with the opportunity to reach out to the local community.
'The art exhibition was in place throughout the week and the submissions this year were again of a very high quality.  We would like to thank Ladywell and St. Brigid's for their contributions as well as the many individuals who provided pieces.  We would also like to thank the staff at the County Museum for the use of the space and their assistance.
'The film screening of Mrs Doubtfire on Thursday last was also a great success with many people coming out to enjoy this family friendly event.  A huge thanks to the staff in Dundalk IMC for their help over the last number of weeks.
'We would also like to thank Priority Print for the generous donation of posters and design for the events scheduled during Mental Health Week.
'During the lead up and during Mental Health Week we were fortunate to have many people, groups and organisations lend their assistance to help make the events of Mental Health Week possible.  Throughout the week we saw a great sense of community spirit and willingness to talk about mental health.  Mental health issues will touch each of our lives at some stage and we need to send home message that it is ok to talk.
'Again, thank you to everyone for their donations, time and support.  We look forward to keeping the conversation about mental health going throughout the year.  Please visit our Facebook page: Dundalk Positive Mental Health Forum to stay posted on future events.'
