HSE can help you quit smoking. Details of services in the North-East

Does the price of cigarettes make you want to quit?

This weeks budget saw another increase in the price of cigarettes. If you smoke 20 a day and you quit now, you could have an extra €600 in your pocket for Christmas!

The HSE can help you quit, here are details of our services in the north-east.

The following hospitals all have stop smoking services which are free to everyone:
  • Cavan General Hospital
  • Louth County Hospital in Dundalk
  • Our Lady’s Hospital in Navan
  • Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda
  • Monaghan Hospital
To access these services or find out more information contact the HSE Health Promotion Department tel: 041 6850671.  You can also:
  • Visit www.quit.ie for information and advice or to create your own personalised QUIT Plan which will assess your smoking habits, give advice on how to quit, and send you emails and tips to get you through the first few weeks.
  • Join www.facebook.com/HSEquit
  • Call the HSE Quit Team for help on Freephone 1800 201 203, they'll talk to you about wanting to quit, send you some information or arrange for you to talk to a quit smoking counsellor.
  • Talk to your GP or Pharmacist, they can advise if you feel you need supports like using nicotine replacement therapy or medication.
