Senator Moran welcomes Minister Humphreys to Dundalk for Jobs Week
Senator Mary Moran welcomed Minister Kevin Humphreys to Dundalk this week for National Jobs Week. Senator Moran and Minister Humphreys visited DkIt, Horseware and the INTREO Office where they met with jobseekers, employers, local staff from the Department of Social Protection and a number of individuals who secured employment after participating in activation programmes.
"I was delighted to welcome Minister Kevin Humphreys on his first ever visit to Dundalk. We visited DkIT where the Department of Social Protection, Louth Economic Forum and DkIT hosted a business briefing for approximately 300 local and regional businesses. Mr Denis Cummins, president at DkIT, Peter Kierans, CEO LMETB, and John McKeon, Assistant Secretary General Department of Social Protection all provided insights on training, education and employment.
'Minister Humphreys and I were also delighted to meet with local jobseekers and individuals who secured employment after participating in activation programmes. It was heartening to hear stories with Minister Humphreys about how the activation schemes have helped people in Louth with their skill sets, how the schemes have supported people's return to work and in some cases have inspired people to start business ventures.
I believe that the true impact of the seeds of entrepreneurship that are sown this year and in the years since the recession, have paved the way for a solid foundation of economic growth, and for the creation of future jobs. I look forward to the positive impact events such as National Jobs Week will have on local businesses and jobseekers. I look forward to welcoming Minister Humphreys to Dundalk in the months ahead.'
